Baby Genius

Really, she is.....at least in my mind the girl is just plain brilliant.  Every little thing she does each day amazes me and she is going through a stage right now where she is constantly discovering fun new things in the house and acting more like a little girl rather than a baby (I don't like that part so much).
Trying out my new toy....toes don't quite reach yet but that's ok!
Reading a book and ready for bed.
Watching Storage Wars with Daddy.
Her language seems to really be coming along and she is making lots of new exciting sounds.  The first really clear word we heard from her was "Amy," who is Frances' Godmother. Frances loves her Aunt Amy! Probably her favorite word is "hi" or "hey."  She also is saying "no no," "I go," "baby," and I've heard "mommy" a few times.   I don't think they all have meanings with them yet, but she loves to talk!  Also, she started trying to brush her hair when I hand her the hairbrush, and if I ask her where my nose is, she points to my mouth- every time....at least she's consistent with the wrong answer:)  Can you tell I'm just a little bit proud of her?

We recently flipped some rooms in the house to make a playroom for Frances.  She has had the best time playing with all her new toys in the open space, and she especially loves her kitchen set (thank you Holley!).  We are heading over to Mississippi next weekend for some triplet action and to celebrate Sage's birthday- yay!!!

Love my new playroom!

"Hi Baby"

For those of you didn't see this on Facebook, here is Frances' latest....She loves to talk to herself in the mirror and has started to say "hi" and then "hi baby."  I'm warning you, it's really cute!

What A Difference A Year Makes!

Over the weekend, we celebrated Frances' 1 year anniversary of her heart surgery.  Can you believe it has been a year???  I remember so well the morning of August 3, 2011 as Will and I handed our tiny 6 month old over to the team of surgeons.  It was an unreal feeling, and the hours seemed to creep by.  We left the hospital with a different baby- her energy levels began to soar, and she hasn't stopped since!
From our pre-surgery party last year
August 2011- Hard to believe this was all 1 year ago!
August 2012
We had a delicious "Happy Heart Day" dinner at Meme and Grump's house.  We like to celebrate around here! Bubba Grump burgers and grilled Mexican corn were the highlights....and then there was the cake.  You can see below, it reads something along the lines of:  Happy Heart Franis Day.  Not even close to the very specific diagram I drew for the bakery of what I wanted on the cake, but Frances didn't care and it was yummy!
We started the party off with a little swimming

Really good dinner- These really are awesome burgers.  Thanks BG
Sorry Frances, it's your party, but this is not for you!
A cake for me????
We gave Grump a mild heart attack with the cake mess.
Happy girl!
This morning we had our visit with Dr. Carlo, the cardiologist.  We LOVE him.  He reports that Frances is doing amazingly well and her heart looks great.  She put on quite a show for him, clapping and talking.  We are now on annual visits with him!
Frances continues to amaze us everyday, and she is constantly exploring and discovering new things in the world.  So what all is Frances doing these days?  Well, for starters, she got her first tooth last week....and its a molar, crazy!  She is belly crawling all over the house and is starting to try to pull up on furniture.  Here is a video of what she worked on in therapy yesterday morning.  This girl doesn't give up!

Diapers Diapers Everywhere

Frances is exhausted tonight after spending lots of time with the triplets lately.  We spent a few days over in MS with them and then Meme helped haul them all over to Birmingham for a few days.  Meme and I had all 4 babies overnight and we managed to get them all fed, bathed, and in pj's in under an hour- I was impressed!  It really is kind of like having quads around when Frances joins the crew because they are all close to the same size.  Meme and Grump have converted what used to be the "piano room" into the new playroom and it sure looked like a daycare most of the time!
A little Praise Baby time before bed is always good!

Frances and Brooks have really become best friends and love talking to each other.

Lunchtime!
Bath time with cousins was really fun!
Frances is really on the move and has gotten very fast at escaping into spots she shouldn't be....I think she is quickly teaching her cousins some of her tricks!  The triplets are SO much fun and Frances loves playing with them.  Kat and Lyndy came over to play some too, and they are such big helpers with the babies.  We were sad to see them leave today, it has been fun!  Here are a few more pictures from our week:
Irene- always happy to have a little something to eat:)
Bubba Grump and Anna
What? I'm not doing anything to her?
Meme tackling 4 babies at dinner time!
A visit to our favorite friend TJ at La Paz.
Meme with all her gals!
Lots of girls!!!

Daddy / Daughter Date Weekend

Momma went to the beach for a long weekend with her girlfriends and they decided that they would all leave babies at home with their daddies. Anna Ruth has never been away from Frances this long but today's technology makes it a lot easier with video conferencing software, texts and picture texts. Anna Ruth has seen some of the pictures below BUT not all of them. When she gets home tonight, Daddy may be sleeping on the couch with Bella. So what did Daddy and Frances do since last Thursday night? Here is a pictorial diary:

Picked up Frances from school
Ate a quick supper

Played until bedtime

Friday July 13, 2012
Unbeknownst to me, Frances was taking a milk bath. I forgot to install the stopper on her cup. She was late for school and I was late for work.

Dropped off at school.

Picked up at school. *Not wearing the same outfit as this morning. Uh-oh!

Bath time!

Played "Where's Frances?"

Saturday July 14, 2012

Lounged in bed.

Went to Walmart. JIFF has a peanut butter chocolate concoction...

Frances Approves.

We went to Princeton Towers to visit Hannah. As you may remember, she was my parent's housekeeper beginning a month before I was born. I can't describe what it feels like to take Frances to visit the woman who took care of me so my parents could continue working when I was an infant. By the way, Hannah will be 95 years old on the 19th of this month.

Checked the mail.

Frances found the mirror in her toy box.

Had beef lo mein for dinner.

"Cletus! Put on your good overalls! This is suppose to be a fancy dinner!"

Sunday July 15, 2012
Bella decided to help Frances wake up.

I then decided it was time for a special breakfast with Daddy:

Entertainment!
What is this?

Yummy!
So sad its all gone!

We missed Momma but are really excited for her to get back this afternoon!
